The
BBC has reported that users of apple's best-selling mini-iPod have been experiencing problems with the sound of their sleek portable players, with some people finding that the devices screech and crackle after about a month's use.
The problem first surfaced on the fan notice board at ipodlounge.com. Apple have since acknowledged that some people have been having problems with the device and have said that anyone having problems should contact Apple care. Apple reiterated that the iPod mini comes with standard one year warranty and 90 days of free technical phone support.
Some 'conspiracy theorists' have made a connection between the problems with the player and the delay of the worldwide launch announced last month. However, there seems little to support this notion, as supply problems with the hard drive, manufactured by Hitachi, appear genuine and Apple are continuing to take orders in the US.
