Portable video specialist Archos has moved into the living room with a multimedia PVR that can stream and download directly from the internet.
The Archos TV+ plugs into your TV and connects to your computer via Wi-Fi allowing you to view your hard-disk-based photos, music, videos, podcasts and anything really, on your TV. It can also download content directly from the internet via the Archos Content Platform (ACP) which offers movies, TV shows and music.
You can also browse the internet but you'll need an additional £20 plug-in Opera browser to do so. Further plug-ins include H.264 (for video podcasts) and MPEG2 (for movies - the default video format is MPEG4) which could set you back a further £30. There's no HD element as yet, though the possibility hasn't been ruled out for future generations and so far there's no DivX video either.
It comes with a lightweight remote that includes a full QWERTY keypad and is available now in two versions: 80GB for £180 and 250GB for £250.
