The final addition to Onkyo's new AV line-up is the CBX-300, a single box stereo solution with CD player, tuner and incorporated iPod dock.
Designed for versatility and suitability within a home environment, it sports a somewhat unique if utilitarian design finished in glossy black with a mouth-esque slot-loading CD mechanism. It's not ugly exactly, but it's certainly not the chicest example of home hi-fi we've seen.
The CBX-300's chassis is, Onkyo promises, extremely rigid to remove unwanted resonance and improve sound quality, with the speakers located in a separate enclosure to further clarify sonics. Internally, said speakers use 8cm Onkyo Micro Fibre (OMF) diaphragms that enable a 'fast, accurate response' alongside an Aero Acoustic Drive bass-reflex port for improved bass response.
Preset equalisers let you further fine tune the sonics to your desired levels.
Features wise, the CBX-300 plays MP3 and WMA encoded CDs, AAC and MP3 files from your iPod and the radio.
There's also a four-mode timer with snooze setting should you be looking to set this up in your bedroom.
Available now, the CBX-300 retails at £230.
