Temporarily ignoring its own MP3 player range, Philips has unveiled a new range of dedicated docks for the iPod and iPhone range.
Topping the list is the flagship DC910 Docking Entertainment System, which looks not dissimilar to the company's Ambisound Soundbar DVD player. Incorporating USB Direct and SD card slots for MP3 and WMA playback, it charges the Pod while it plays and outputs 30 watts RMS given extra oomph by the dual wOOx loudspeakers. A remote control is also bundled.
Next in line is the towering DC570 Docking Entertainment System. Delivering 100 watts RMS through its 2.1 speaker system with built-in sub, it offers complete remote control over the dock and iPod, digital tuning for 40 preset stations and charges the Pod as it plays.
The BTM630 Micro Hi-Fi system incorporates a CD player and Bluetooth enabled speaker into proceedings to deliver 30 watts RMS with Dynamic Bass Boost. An in-built SD/MMC card reader offers MP3 and WMA playback with MP3 recording at 2x speed without the need for a PC. Bundled with a remote control, the BTM630 charges Pods as it plays.
Last and quite likely least, the altogether more portable DC185 Docking Entertainment System incorporates a big carry handle into its design for easy transportation. It features USB hook-up for MP3 and WMA format playback alongside a digital FM tuner to deliver 4 watts RMS from its speakers, helped along by the ubiquitous Dynamic Bass Boost.
Release dates and prices for all of these are still to be confirmed.
