Fatman is apparently 'not content to bathe in the sweet afterglow of its award-winning sub-£1,000 range of iTube valve amplifiers' and so is bringing its nine-valve iTube 452 to these shores, aiming to take down the sub-£1,500 competition this time.
It is stuffed to the tubes with what Fatman calls 'premium-grade circuitry' and thermionic valves supporting no less than nine tubes.
A fully integrated push-pull design offers four line input stages allowing plenty of room to plug in music sources like CD or MP3 player. As with all Fatman amps, the package includes a dedicated iPod dock complete with remote control.
The end result is 45 watts per channel of a sound confidently described as 'superb' and 'gorgeous sounding'.
Arriving in April throughout Europe for a nugget less than £1,500, we have high expectations.
