Roberts Radio has launched the SOUND 24, its latest effort to converge as many music playing media into one unit as possible.
It brings together DAB and FM radio, CD player, SD memory card slot and USB port to play back MP3 and WMA formats and features an in-built 2.1 speaker system with rear-mounted subwoofer.
Features of note include the CD and (unique) SD bookmark feature that will remember the last point played and jump straight back to it should you have turned the 24 off at any point.
There is also a dizzying array of alarm, buzzer and snooze options alongside a dimmable light sensitive display and a full-featured remote control.
An auxiliary input invites other music players to join the party (though with all the playback options this may be a little surplus to requirements).
The SOUND 24 is on sale now for £200 and looks to be a capable machine. It's just a shame the styling has taken a backseat to the practicalities of squeezing all those features and speakers into one unit.
