Samsung has become the latest manufacturer to release a single box all-in-one system with the HT-X810, though as with most other brands, the one-box claim is dubious at best as it also features a separate subwoofer, which in this case is wireless.
From first appearances the X810 is among the best looking sound bar systems we've yet seen with its slot loading centrally mounted DVD mechanism and lustrous black edging.
Internally, Samsung has plumped for a 2.1-channel sonic set-up as opposed to mimicking a pseudo 5.1-channel system, backed up by the meaty sub that runs using 5.8GHz wireless tech so it can be tucked away out of sight.
The DVD player upscales to 'near HD quality' and is compatible with a variety of multimedia formats including the ever more popular DivX.
Another nice touch is the inclusion of Bluetooth enabling it to play back music from the likes of your mobile phone wirelessly, while HDMI and USB ports take care of other connection demands.
The Samsung doesn't go on sale until the end of May, though it can be pre-ordered now for £400.
