Japanese specialist Audio-Technica has unveiled its latest concern in the world of high-end audiophile entertainment with the ebony wood ATH-W5000 headphones.
With the housings carved from a solid block of striped ebony, the W5000s promise to deliver 'new levels' of audiophile sound quality and listening comfort, with 'true fidelity' and 'absolute neutrality'.
They sport large aperture 53mm neodymium magnet based transducers that have coils that project sounds in the range of 5Hz to 45kHz.
The Wing Support Housing vibration-proof mechanism is also claimed to ensure a 'pleasurable listening experience' no matter how long you wear 'em.
Delivered complete with a three-metre cable crafted from highest quality oxygen-free copper conductors, particularly plush carry case, cable storage bag and a price point touching £700 - they aren't far from the top of the high-end tree.
