Sony has today announced a partnership with Napster UK to offer the Napster service to everyone who buys one of Sony's Walkman Wirefree Bluetooth MP3 players the 16GB NWZ-A820, the 8GB NWZ-A828K and the 4GB NWZ-A826K.
The deal consists of a 14-day Napster To Go trial and five free permanent downloads. The Napster To Go permits access to the site on up to three PCs, and after the 14 days trialists will be invited to join up for a monthly fee, though there is now a pay per download option as well, as the site brings itself in line with its main competitors.
The Napster site features over five million songs and has recently been revamped with a huge number of them DRM-free MP3s.
Alongside this announcement, Sony has also collaborated with 7digital.com in a download double whammy, this time of the video variety.
Again applying to the NWZ-A826K and NWZ-A828K Walkman Wirefree series, thousands of 7digital.com voucher cards have been placed inside the MP3 player boxes sold in Argos stores throughout the UK and Ireland. If you get a card, just hit up the 7digital website and claim five free video downloads.
By doubling up, Sony has effectively promoted both the killer audio and video aspects of its Walkman range, a move that can't hurt considering the amount of good press Apple is generating at the moment.
