High-end audio firm Klipsch has launched the marvellously monikered RoomGroove multi-room Pod system, calling it a 'Zero Grief' wireless solution.
Larger sibling to Klipsch's iGroove SXT, the RoomGroove is an iPod speaker dock in its own right, but one that can network with other RoomGroove units around the house wirelessly to create multi-room audio. Buy one and you'll want to buy more Klipsch is no doubt hoping, and this is just added incentive.
A two way stereo, it uses high quality woofers, crossovers and horn-loaded tweeters for its sonics and employs a touch-sensitive motorised retractable dock that charges all 30-pin iPods and has docks to fit the rest.
A line level in offers hook-up to other MP3 players, DAB/FM tuners and the like.
The RoomGroove apparently 'sniffs out' the entire 2.4GHz wireless band to detect other wireless technologies in use such as routers and then transmits around the spectrum used by those sources to avoid interference.
'With intelligent wireless technology and dynamic sound performance, our RoomGroove fills the market gap for a high-quality multi-room music platform that's designed to be simple to install and operate', said Tony Ostrom, Klipsch director of product planning.
'It's a product that allows users to easily experience their iPod tunes from room-to-room without being tripped up or tied down'.
Klipsch's RoomGroove is available now from the likes of Amazon for a respectable £199.
