Roberts SolarDAB

DAB big player Roberts has gone all Eco innovative on us and jumped the gun on the competition with the launch of the world's first sun-powered DAB radio, the SolarDAB.

Endowed with a solar panel on top, placed in the sun it powers up the rechargeable batteries to deliver a claimed (and if true, very impressive) 27 hours of listening goodness when out of the light.

Just in case you live in the UK however, it can also be mains powered should the sun not feel like coming out to play. Icons displaying solar levels and battery strength keep you posted on how much juice you have left before you need to charge it up again.

The actual radio sports ten station presets, soft-touch rubberised controls, backlit LCD and the standard line in for hooking up and playing back other portable music devices.

Typically consumer friendly, the SolarDAB arrives in five colours to suit your life - white, black, red, green and pink - and will set you back a reasonable £80. Not bad considering it won't cost you anything to run, hopefully.
