After much speculation, Creative has launched the Zen X-Fi PMP.
Measuring about the same size as a credit card, the X-Fi is offered in 8GB, 16GB and 32Gb flavours with an SDHC card slot opening expansion for another 32GB should you so desire.
It features a 2.5in 4.3 screen (boo to the lack of widescreen, even on a device this size), with the big draw being the Wi-Fi functionality crammed into the two larger capacity models so owners can wirelessly sync music, photos and video as well as indulge in some Instant Messaging, but there's no web-surfing enabled.
As is de rigueur with Creative, an FM radio, alarm clock and speaker are present and correct, and Creative's sonic tech wizardry in the shape of X-Fi Crystalizer and X-Fi Expand technology promises to bump heavily compressed MP3 files to giddy heights of quality.
It looks like battery life will top out around the five hour mark, and colour options are limited to that black silver combo.
Landing in Japan mid July for the equivalent prices of £80 for 8Gb, £105 for 16GB and £150 for the 32GB, we'll keep you posted on news of a UK launch.
