LG has unveiled the L42PP series of LCD displays that sport a hardened glass screen that promises to make the series LG's most durable monitors to date.
Protected by an extra-thick, hard screen, the L42PP has been designed specifically for high traffic areas like schools, internet cafes and airports. We were thinking more about any household that owns a Nintendo Wii.
The tempered glass screen has a 7H hardness compared to the average monitor's 2H hardness rating, and as if to prove it during testing LG dropped a 1.2lb steel ball onto its glass surface without damage.
Delivered in two flavours, the L1942PP sports a 19in screen and the L1742PP a 17in, both with a 5:4 aspect ratio.
Digital Fine Contrast ratio is 8,000:1 and there's a 5ms grey-to-grey response time. The monitors are powered by LG's picture enhancing chipset, the F-Engine, with the L1942PP maxing out at 1280x1024 pixel resolution with 300nit brightness.
No word on price or release date for either as yet, but expect to see them soon.
