Pro-Ject 6 PerspeX

Henley Designs has announced the launch of the new Pro-Ject 6 PerspeX turntable, with a swathe of new technologies aimed to squeeze the most out of its performance.

The turntable and arm are mounted on a sub-chassis machined from Corian substrate, which in turn floats above a transparent acrylic plinth on three magnetic suspension points, which mean the system can be levitated indefinitely for ultimately smooth performance.

The record platter is made from a non-resonant sandwich of materials and rotates on an inverted ceramic bearing, and is driven about its circumference by a belt from a quiet running AC motor with two pulleys, driving easy speed adjustment between 33 and 45 rpm.

The 6 PerspeX also features Pro-Ject's new 9cc Evolution tonearm, formed form a single piece of carbon fibre for rigidity and integrity.

Attention to detail is clearly paramount, reflected not unreasonably with the £1,000 price point.

Turntables are mechanical devices where engineering precision makes the difference between high and low quality sound, and this is the main reason why you generally don’t get cheap turntables that are considered to be any good...
