Arcam Solo music system

British hi-fi manufacturer Arcam, has unveiled the Solo, an all-in-one hi-fi system that it claims will deliver the performance of audiophile hi-fi separates in one slim, elegant chassis.

The Solo consists of a CD player, a 50-watts-per-channel amplifier combined with a DAB digital radio and a high quality FM tuner. It has been designed and built using audiophile standard components and design methods, but is priced at a respectable £1,000.

General: - audiophile grade sound quality - matching speakers available (details TBA) - all-metal casework with aluminium lid - large, clear dot matrix display with easy-to-read text - simple intuitive operating system - elegant system handset - clock with four alarms - wake up to CD or radio - high sensitivity integrated DAB Radio and FM tuner - size 43x8x35cm - weight 7.75kg
CD player: - CD text, CD-R and CD-RW transport - low jitter Colpitts crystal clock - based on award-winning Arcam DiVA CD73 - 24-bit Wolfson DAC
Power amplifiers: - 50W RMS into 8ohms continuous power output - passive fanless cooling system - full size speaker binding posts - twin toroidal transformers with oversized power amp supply - independent toroid for microprocessor and standby - nine independently regulated power supplies
