Delta Electronics has demonstrated its Full HD LED projector, which it hopes will improve the viewing experience for the average home theatre enthusiast.
The LED module is in place of a lamp, meaning no replacements necessary, as it has a life expectancy of 20,000 hours.
'The LED illumination system replaces the lamp, the colour wheel and the shutter of a traditional projector. What is crucial is the need for a precise and complex control algorithm that allows the LED to work with the DMD to get high image quality. We have achieved groundbreaking improvements recently that enable us to bring this product to market', commented Jeff Fu, director for projection display at Delta.
The 1080p projector could mark the start of more LED frame throwers coming to market, though any further details are sketchy at best.
Fu seems confident of the new projector's success however, 'The viewing experience is amazing. The image quality of the projector's full HD resolution plus saturated color and dynamic contrast is extremely impressive'.
No specific product name, release date or price as yet, but you can be sure we'll be watching this development closely.
