Pure Digital products for 2005

SONUS-1XT

Pure Digital has released a new range of hi-fi products, which include two DAB digital radios, the SONUS-1XT and the EVOKE-1XT Prestige Edition, plus a new version of its LEGATO hi-fi system.

The SONUS-1XT is an enhanced alarm radio featuring Pure Digital's new iVOX voice feedback technology, which announces the available DAB stations as the listener scrolls through them. The SONUS-1XT also sports an enhanced touch-sensitive SnoozeHandle feature where a single tap will tell users the time. Furthermore, its Volume Equalisation Technology (VET) means that the SONUS-1XT constantly monitors the audio levels of every station and subtly adjusts their relative volume levels over time.

The SONUS-1XT also features multiple alarms, backlit night-time clock display, a nine-event timed record function for use with MiniDisc or other recording device, a USB connector for downloading software upgrades, ten station presets, a headphone socket and stereo line out for recording. Its integrated full range hi-fi speaker features a bass reflex port for enhanced bass performance and has a new custom-designed three-inch drive unit and active filters. The system can be upgraded to stereo with the optional XT-1 add-on matching speaker. The SONUS-1XT is available now for around £120.

EVOKE-1XT
Also released is the EVOKE-1XT Prestige Edition DAB radio. This model adds several enhanced features to the EVOKE-1XT including a piano black high gloss finish. Audio performance has been greatly improved over the EVOKE-1 via new custom-designed speakers and active filters. The radio also features a countdown timer, a radio and tone alarm and a USB connector for product updates.

The EVOKE-1XT Prestige Edition has six station presets, a headphone socket, a stereo line out for recording and a bass-ported cabinet for a richer, more natural sound. It has an integrated full-range hi-fi speaker plus an additional speaker unit and like the SONUS-1XT, it features a bass reflex port, three-inch drive units and active filters. Other key product features include a high sensitivity RF tuner module, three levels of Dynamic Range Control, a one-touch fast-tune facility, user selectable service ordering and a telescopic aerial/connector. The EVOKE-1XT Prestige Edition has an expected price of £110.

Pure Digital has also tweaked its LEGATO micro system, which is now available with or without speakers. The system incorporates a DAB digital radio, as well as FM, CD-R, CD-RW and MP3 playback, high-power audio output and ReVu, which enables pause and rewind of DAB broadcasts.

LEGATO
The LEGATO's DAB and FM performance is derived from its DRX-702ES with space for 99 DAB and 99 FM presets and the FM function stores RDS station names to allow DAB-like tuning. A timer combined with optical output allows users to record favourite radio programs to minidisc or CD-R for later listening. The LEGATO features Pure's DPAC II technology for a more natural sound from DAB digital radio as well as bass and treble tone controls to adjust all of the LEGATO's audio playback. An auxiliary input lets users connect external devices.

For users who choose a system with speakers, the LEGATO delivers 22 watts RMS per channel from speakers with twin three-inch driver units with phase correction plugs and high-power neodymium magnets. The driver units sit in reflex ported cabinets that have been designed for improved bass response. The LEGATO is available now for £350 with speakers and £280 without.

Pure is hoping to offer a stylish alternative to a full-sized audio system with the release of the DTM-300. It handles CD, MP3, DAB radio, FM with RDS, and CD-R/CD-RW playback, so there seems to be some versatility to match its aesthetic...
