Emtec is launching the S800 HDD Movie Cube, a hybrid storage unit with analogue and DVB tuner.
With a capacious 500GB capacity, the S800 is claimed to have room for 180,000 photos or music tracks, or around 600 feature length movies, all of which can be accessed and viewed direct on a TV using the supplied remote.
Alongside this, the Movie Cube can also record TV programmes from its built-in DVB tuner, convert old video or DVDs to digital format and be used to listen to music files or internet radio.
Connectivity includes HDMI, SCART and USB, while it is compatible with DivX - handy for accessing good quality online video content.
The Emtec can also be networked to PC, Mac or TV using the Ethernet 10/100 connection or Wi-Fi for NAS functionality, and is one of a growing number of multimedia devices heading in this direction. The future of TV?
Available in December, the S800 HDD Movie Cube will retail at £230.
