Italy's largest manufacturer of high-performance speakers, Chario Loudspeakers, has released the Academy Sovran speaker.
Described as a 'handsome' floorstanding three-way speaker system, it promises an 'astonishingly full and accurate soundstage'.
Designed using acoustic studies of binaural hearing in small rooms, the Sovran decreases the masking effect of low frequency standing waves and enhances tonal components in the stereo signal to make them easier to pick up.
Rated at 180W into 4ohms, the Sovran is housed in a two-part cabinet where the lower section holds two eight-inch subwoofers and the upper one midrange and one tweeter.
A quartet of proprietary cylindrical elastomer puffers dampens vibrations by dissipating energy in the separate sections.
Available now across the pond, the Sovran retails at $16,000 a pair.
