Onkyo's latest AV receiver the TX-SR607 is the world's first application of Dolby's ProLogic IIz sound support, which promises to add a vertical dimension to your surround sound listening.
The SR607 is the flagship model in Onkyo's new range of AV receivers and as you'd expect is packed with bells and whistles.
Delivering 7.2-channels of sound, it supports Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD as well as Dolby's new ProLogic IIz. The latter tech delivers a vertical dimension to the sound if you place two speakers atop your screen, which essentially adds a plane of sound over your head as well as all around you. Sounds interesting.
Elsewhere there are six HDMI ports for hooking more HD compatible devices than you're ever likely to have.
Shipping to the US in April for around $600, we're hoping for a UK release soon so we can try out this new surround sound tech.
