Burgeoning online music shop 7digital has announced a partnership with leading free media player Winamp in much the same vein as its recent collaborations with Spotify and Songbird.
The deal with AOL will use the 7digital API platform to offer Winamp users in ten European regions the chance to download from 7digital's six million MP3 track library from the Winamp application.
Winamp claims to have 77million users worldwide, though not all of that number will be privy to the new service, but it's still a big boost to 7digital's online presence and accessible user market.
7digital CEO Ben Drury comments, 'We opened the API platform to developers last year to encourage anyone, from multinational retailers to bedroom developers, to create a range of music applications and services. This combined with our European network of download stores has allowed Winamp to create a first-class music delivery offering'.
The application is available to download now.
