Armour Home SubCast

By Duncan Madden

Armour Home SubCast

Armour Home has introduced the SubCast to the UK market that works as an alternative to the conventional subwoofer cable by making any sub wireless.

Originally designed by California-based Soundcast Systems, the SubCast needs no programming or IP assignment but instead is a simple plug 'n' play affair.

A small SubCast transmitter plugs direct into the sub out port on a home cinema amp and a SubCast receiver directly into the subwoofer input. Power it up and away you go, allowing you to place the sub anywhere in the room (up to 45m away) rather than right by the AV system as is traditional.

The system uses the patented Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum (FHSS) to find an open channel and broadcast clear signals in the 2.4GHz band. It promises interference and buzz-free sonics with none of the dropouts that have afflicted previous similar systems.

Both the transmitter and receiver measure a diminutive 155x40x25mm and come with all necessary cables.

Available now, the Soundcast SubCast retails at £150.
