Denon's new DENON LINK digital audio interface

Manufacturer Denon has unveiled a third update to its digital transmission technology (used in its high-end home cinema amplifiers, DVD players and other components), appropriately titled the DENON LINK 3rd Edition.

DENON LINK 3rd will enable full-spec digital transmission of all sources, from CD and DVD-Video to the multichannel signals of Super Audio CD and DVD-Audio. Denon claims that by using a dedicated DENON LINK cable, the performance of a Denon DVD player and an AV surround amp can be fully realized.

DENON LINK enables direct transmission of PCM 24-bit/192kHz digital signals, jitter-free and with high S/N, from DVD-Audio, Super Audio CD, and other high sound quality sources. Denon is also claiming that it'll outperform HDMI and IEEE1394/i.Link/FireWire, which if true, makes the DENON LINK an extremely exciting proposition.

No such claim should be taken for its face value. Such proprietary solution does no benefit to the AV community. If they truly want their product to be the leader, they should make their Denon Link interoperable to current HDMI, firewire, etc... by creating a some sort of converter for those of us who will not go for the Denon solution from DVD, receiver, etc...
