A recent interview for Crave with iPlayer honcho Anthony Rose has revealed that Auntie is to serve up more features for its phenomenally popular iPlayer service.
Rose has unveiled plans for a more personalised service with series link functionality allowing users to 'pre-book' downloads of programmes before they air in much the same way as the Sky and Freeview+ allows.
Commented Rose, 'At the moment we've got the website - you can go there and click play or you can click download. Imagine a future where things come to you, where you can subscribe and have favourites and so on.
'You'll be able to optionally log in to get enhanced iPlayer services: pre-booking, the equivalent of series link, and you'll be able to see which programmes you're subscribed to for automatic download'.
Rose has also hinted towards a future of customisable options after information gleaned from customer feedback.
'Users are clearly telling us they'd like alerts and an online library, and having delivered HD and video quality that for the most part is similar in quality to TV, we now turn our attention to the personalisation and socialisation and customisation of iPlayer'.
We'll let you know as we hear of expected timescales for the new services to be implemented.
