We've all seen wireless HDMI before, but here's a new take on getting HDTV pumped around the house without the need for miles of new cable spaghetti - with Averlogic Mains HDTV.
The system works by running the HDTV signal through the existing mains cabling.
Users would have a set-top box in, say, the living room with all the programmes and films they like stored on them, and an LCD TV upstairs in the bedroom you want to watch it all on.
The Averlogic system can sling your HDTV signals through the mains network, sending 1920x1080 Full HD images at 24p and 5.1§-channel AC-3 audio from set-top box to TV.
Averlogic has catchily named the technology the AL9M803B-EVB-A6 PLC Video Link module and says it works over Ethernet as well as the mains and expects it to make it into gadgets in the very near future.
Well worth keeping an eye on if you have multi-room home cinema setups - we will of course keep you posted on when we can expect to see it.
