A recent ruling in the States has threatened a ban on some Sharp Aquos LCD televisions and monitors if they infringe a patent owned by rival manufacturer Samsung.
Samsung won a recent US International Trade Commission ruling concerning a patent dispute between itself and Sharp, while three other issues were rejected.
In another case a trade judge has also ruled that Samsung's TVs and monitors infringe on no fewer than four Sharp patents, meaning they too could be banned under his recommendation.
A stalemate then that looks set to continue while Sharp considers an appeal and a final outcome to the Samsung ban is yet to be decided.
