PSB's hidden speaker system

PSB speakers has announced details of its CW800E high performance enclosed in-wall system for decor (and sound) conscious owners who want their set-up to be as invisible as possible.

The CW800E takes components from PSB's Platinum T8 tower, adds an in-wall cabinet and crossover circuitry and squeezes it all into a speaker less than four inches deep. A braced wooden full enclosure has a mounting scheme designed for easy in-wall installation and an optimized crossover network matches the balance of the system to other Platinum models and also shapes and extends bass response.

The driver complement includes dual eight-inch (200mm), high-power shielded woofers with a stiff fibreglass cone. The woofers are said to use high mass and greater than normal motor strength to optimise them for best performance in the limited volume available. Dual 4.5-inch (115mm) midranges use a light responding fibreglass cone in an effort to achieve a pure midrange response. The midranges are positioned around a high power, low resonance one-inch (25mm) titanium dome tweeter.

The PSB CW800E in-wall speakers are available now at a suggested retail price of £1,850 each (including VAT). For more information, visit: www.psbspeakers.com
