The D-M35DAB is Denon's sixth effort at a micro component system, superseding the existing D-M33 by offering DAB functionality and improved speakers.
At its core lies the D-M35DAB CD/DAB/RDS tuner, CD player and amplifier delivering 22 watts per channel and a variety of functions including scrolling text, 100 station presets, auto tuning and a 24-hour timer for alarm or unattended recording. The CD player will play CD, CDR-RW, MP3 and WMA formats and uses Denon's multi-bit technology for improved performance. On its own the D-M35DAB CD/DAB/RDS will set you back £300.
For an additional £80 there's an optional set of speakers, the SC-M73. The SC-M73 is a purpose-built two-way design, featuring a rear-ported, high-excursion 130mm 'WOK style' woofer and a 25mm soft dome tweeter. Inverted drive unit geometry places the woofer above the tweeter in an effort to optimise vertical dispersion and deliver smooth phase and frequency response.
Also available is the DRR-M33 auto-reverse cassette deck, priced at £130. A horizontal design to complement the system, it includes Dolby B Noise Reduction and CD record synchronisation.
