Clearaudio's Concerto

Clearaudio's Concerto is just the first of a new generation of Clearaudio MC cartridges to be released over the next few months.

With a dynamic range of 100dB, the Concerto is claimed to significantly outperform the old Clearaudio references by giving a high signal to noise ratio coupled with very quiet background. The new body is precision machined with twelve 'fingers', each having a slightly different shape to control resonance within the cartridge body. The Concerto body itself is carved from Satinee wood, achieving a total mass of just four grams.

For the new generation Clearaudio uses a new stylus profile (five times smaller than that in the previous Clearaudio flagship, Insider Reference) said to provide both a lower moving mass and a significantly more accurate reading of the record groove. The Concerto also uses stronger magnets than before, all of which are said to be symmetrically arranged in the same manner as a medical body scanner no less.

The Concerto is available now, priced at £1,230. More information can be found at www.clearaudio.de
