NHT Pro M-00 speaker

Speaker manufacturer NHT has announced its diminutive Pro M-00 active monitor is to be released in the UK this month.

The M-00 is an acoustic suspension design incorporating a paper cone 4.5in woofer that features a two-layer voice coil wound on an aluminum former, and a 1in ferro-fluid cooled, fabric dome tweeter employing an "under-hung" motor design utilizing a large magnet structure, thicker top plates, and shorter voice coils. The M-00's enclosure is cast from aluminum-zinc alloy, acting as a massive heat sink to allow the use of a high voltage, fully discrete power amplifier. The front baffle is made from glass-filled ABS, which is said to offer rigidity and low resonance characteristics.

The monitor is driven by a healthy 75 watts RMS continuous (150 watts peak) power amplifier. In addition, the preamplifier section is designed for low noise, high overload tolerance, and the transformer is magnetically shielded to allow use in direct proximity to computer monitors.

The M-00 features XLR, TRS and phono input jacks, and as an added convenience, the XLR and TRS inputs are paralleled so that multiple M-00's can be daisy chained on a single channel. Furthermore, the M-00 will provide connection to a wide variety of devices, such as professional mixers, computer sound cards, and portable DAT recorders, via its +4dB/-10dB input sensitivity switch. For installation, the M-00 has mounting bosses and threaded holes for use with the OmniMount 50/53 Series bracket systems.
