Speaker manufacturer Morel has unveiled an upgrade to its Octave Signature series of standmount speakers that turns it into with a three-way floorstander.
The Octave Signature subwoofer includes a brace of 23cm woofers that can be slotted beneath the standard bookshelf speaker to turn it into a floorstanding model. The crossover is set at 150Hz so the sub can easily handle the low end without any pressure being put on the standmount to improve power handling and allow the midrange to become more transparent.
The normal Octave Signature standmount speaker uses a 13cm bass/mid driver with a 76mm voice coil which has its magnet system placed inside, which Morel claims offers deeper, more powerful bass. The tweeter includes an Acuflex soft dome fitted with neodymium magnets. There's no damping within the cabinet, since Morel says its strategically placed partitions are enough to eliminate any standing waves.
The Morel Octave Signature range is completed by a centre channel so the speakers can be used in a complete 5.1 system.
Designed and built in Israel, all the Octave Signature speakers are available now in red, black or white piano gloss finishes.
