Arcam has revealed anew audiophile iPod dock in the shape of the rCube.
The 20cm3 cube-shaped box is made from 12mm thick MDF containing a pair of 10cm bass/mid drivers arranged back-to-back in force-cancelling configuration. It also has a pair of 25mm aluminium dome tweeters, each angled at five degrees and it's all powered by three 50-watt amplifiers delivering a total of 90 watts RMS.
Also on board is Kleer lossless streaming technology allowing it to wirelessly stream your tunes to Kleer-equipped wireless headphones or from a computer. As well as the headphones you'll also need an additional rWave wireless dongle (£70) and for the computer you'll need an rWave USB transmitter (£80).
Inputs include a 3.5mm audio jack for MP3 players not made by Apple and a USB port for firmware upgrades. Outputs include composite and component video for viewing iPod/iPhone video on a TV screen.
It's easily portable with its concealed handle and it comes with a battery pack offering up to eight hours of listening time.
The Arcam rCube goes on sale this month for £500.
