Vieta TDT500C in-car freeview tuner

Here's a neat innovation from Spanish-based hi-fi firm Vieta that might help keep the kids quiet on those long car journeys. The TDT500C is a compact, terrestrial digital Freeview television (DVB-T) tuner that hopes to put an end to the drawbacks that have always plagued traditional analogue mobile television - namely interference and the resulting constant variations in quality due to the receiver being in motion.

The TDT500C is also fitted with a powerful TinyRISC 108MHz CPU and is primarily designed to operate with Vieta's range of in-car LCD monitors although it will work with any in-car screen.

The tuner will be available in August for £400. More information can be found at www.vieta-uk.com

Specifications:
Universal design to works with all in car screens and stereos
Also handles normal PAL TV and Teletext
High speed diversity tuner (CTA72 antennae optional)
On-glass antennae also available
3 AV inputs inc S-Video with switching for additional sources
Switchable widescreen (16:9) and traditional (4:3) formats
Automatic and manual tuning
System management software updates through RS-232 port.
All functions controlled via the highly intuitive menu system
Edit favourite channels and memorise the last channel selected.
