Having already made a name for itself in the tabletop DAB radio market, Pure Digital is dipping its toes into new waters. Tested to international IP65 water-resistance standards, Pure's new Oasis DAB radio is said to be weatherproof and splash resistant in all conditions, therefore making it suitable for use outdoors as well as in the bathroom or kitchen.
Oasis features a cast-aluminium protection frame that houses a custom designed 4in long-throw speaker. For further protection the radio has rubber 'bumpers' and recessed controls, as well as rubber covers protecting input and output connectors from damp and dust. The removable aerial is rubber protected too and can be stored in the rear of the unit for transport.
Its built-in ChargePAK rechargeable battery system is claimed to last for over 15 hours and simply needs to be plugged into the mains for recharging. It's not just a radio either - you'll be able to connect an iPod or any other audio device to it for a portable sound system and a USB port allows for future upgrades via a PC.
Pure claims the Oasis is the world's first rechargable outdoor radio and as we haven't come across anything of its kind thus far, we're inclined to agree. It'll be on sale next month for £120 and more information can be found at www.puredigital.com.
