HP Wi-Fi LCD TV

With the craze for wireless devices and entire wireless home networks showing no signs of abating, it was only a matter of time before somebody added Wi-Fi support to the television. Hewlett-Packard, not particularly renowned for its television set production, has announced plans for a 37in screen that does just this. The LCD screen should be available to buy around the middle of next year and will also include a built-in DVR for recording video.

Why would you want a Wi-Fi-enabled television though you may well ask? Well, as the PC continues its attempts to leave the study and enter the front room, such a screen could stream downloaded films from your PC. Or it could be positioned as the focal point of your new media centre. Or perhaps it could be used to browse the internet from the comfort of your favourite sofa. You get the idea...

No word on the pricing just yet as the final specs have yet to be confirmed.

What do you think about Wi-Fi television - the future of television or worthless gimmick? Let us know here.
