The Wheels of Digital

Whilst we wait for our senior editor Dave Oliver to report back from a press conference in London, possibly revealing the iPod Video, something else caught our eye that may satisfy your iPod hunger for the time being. It's a product you may have seen before but it's finally been released, so allow us to introduce you to the Numark iDJ.

Essentially just a mixer with two iPod docking stations, the iDJ is compatible with all iPods and allows seamless mixing of music libraries with other music sources. This means not only mixing between two iPods but, for example, between an iPod and a traditional turntable. This can open up all kinds of exciting mixing options for the budding DJ, with a massive amount of music available to mix and blend.

The Numark looks to be of a solid build and features three band EQ with gain for each channel. There's also a microphone input, USB connectivity and usefully the iPod docks will also charge your player while you're in the mix.

More details at www.numark.com.

We wanted to come up with a pun for the title of this news piece but our creativity has run a little dry hence the rather lame effort above (it's a play on 'The Wheels of Steel' in case that wasn't obvious). That said we're 100% sure there's a good one there we just can't tap into it at the moment. If you can think of any we'd like to hear them so post them as a discussion following this article.

How about "MP 3style". Looks quite fun. Reminds me of the old Professional walkmans, with a variable pitch control.
