Monster launches THX speaker range

Monster has just released a range of THX certified loudspeakers as the first of a complete line of Monster Home Theatre Music™ sound systems. The speakers have been designed for both movie watching and music listening, and from the six speakers in the range there's a massive 24 system configurations possible.

This new Monster line includes four speakers, two subwoofers and two stands. The £400 Monitor Speaker 100 comprises one seven inch Kevlar cone woofer and a one inch free-air neodymium tweeter, and has a power handling of 100 watts RMS with a sensitivity of 89dB at four ohms. The Monitor Speaker 200 will retail at £500 and comprises two seven inch Kevlar cone woofers and a one inch neodymium tweeter. It has a power output of 150 watts RMS and a sensitivity of 92dB at four ohms.

The Select Dipole Surround Speaker 100 is available at £700 and features a seven inch Kevlar woofer and two one inch neodymium tweeters. It's capable of 110 watts RMS of power and has a sensitivity of 88dB at eight ohms. The final model in the speaker range is the Tower Speaker 200 which retails at £700. It comprises three seven inch Kevlar cone woofers and a one inch free-air neodymium tweeter and is capable of 150 watts RMS of power with a sensitivity of 92dB at four ohms.

The £700 Tower Bass Module 200 subwoofer is capable of an impressive 200 watts RMS of power via its sizeable 12 inch woofer. Featuring dual, large cross-section bass reflex tubes the Module 200 can handle low frequencies up to 20hz. The other sub in the new range is the Select Subwoofer 200· It's again able to kick out 200 watts RMS of power via its 12 inch cone woofer.

Finally, there's two stands to choose from, the 27 inch tall Monitor 100 speaker stand (retailing at £180) and the 23 inch high Monitor 200 Speaker Stand which will set you back £200.
