You may remember our recent competition to win a pair of Epos ELS 303 speakers, the lucky winner was Martin Crawley and he's sent us a mini review. Here's what he had to say:
The Epos ELS 303 speakers looked fantastictically stylish and very tiny compact floorstanding speakers compared to my Budget m3 Tannoy floorstanders...The supplied black plinth is very sturdy and the speaker heavy for it's small frame approx 14.5 kg when boxed...The Binding posts for bi-wiring are sturdy and overall the feeling I got when I took these out of the box is of a very well made stylish speaker that looked great....
On hooking up I played a few cd tracks and the sound is very crisp and clear with great amount of detail particularly in music.... I have a Yamaha dsp-ax2 amplifier @ 100 watts and this seemed to drive the speakers well...Whilst there was a great deal of detail more so than my budget tannoy M3's which is the only speaker I can compare them with...I felt the 303's only drawback was that it lacked a little bass but I feel that this may have been due to the fact that most of the other speakers in my set up had been 8 ohms whereas the Epos 303's were 4 ohms so possibly they could have driven better with more compatible speakers.....Overall I think a powerful set of speakers but a little bass shy....
