QED has released the Qonduit, a new shielded mains cable for your hi-fi or home cinema system.
The cable's three cores are each constructed from eighty-four strands of 99.999 per cent oxygen free copper (so for the mathematicians among you that's just 0.001 per cent off being totally oxygen free). Three separate, independent layers of PVC insulation are interspaced with OFC copper braid and an Aluminium Mylar Foil to produce a highly effective, dual anti-interference screen. This is said to reduce both induction and emission of RF interference and electromagnetic radiation.
The IEC connector is a custom-designed, two-part PVC over-moulding, incorporating twenty-four carat gold-plated contacts for decreased connection impedance.
The Qonduit is available now in both 1.5m and 3.0m lengths. The UK suggested retail prices for the two cables are £40 and £60 respectively.
