Now, it's fair to say multi-plugs aren't the sexiest things in the AV world. Unless of course you're manufacturer QED, who calls them 'mains distribution hubs', which sounds a whole lot cooler. And in the timeless words of Marks & Spencer, these aren't any old hubs, they're high performance, filtered, surge suppressed, Class 1 hubs.
The hubs are the newest addition to QED's existing 'Qonduit' range of mains cables and accessories and use custom designed extruded aluminium cases, with each hub featuring triple level surge suppression and boasts dedicated sockets for both 'Power' and 'Source' components. The dedicated 'Power' sockets incorporate only parallel filter components to allow the high current delivery suitable for amplifiers. In contrast, the 'Source' sockets contain both parallel and series components for optimum filter characteristics for CD players, DVD players etc. The current supply to the 'Source' sockets is limited to 100 watts each and the maximum current draw from any hub is 2.4 Kilowatts.
Each socket is individually filtered and isolated from the interference and surges created by ancillary equipment. They are also said to reject the RF (Radio Frequency) interference inherent on the mains supply and generated by other connected equipment.
