Marking the company's centenary year in the audio world, Goldring has announced a new series of headphones. Now, you might think a name like Goldring is more associated with turntables than headphones, and hey you'd be right - its last pair were the Goldring-Lenco K105 model way back in the early 1970s.
The new headphone range consists of three models, all of which are open back and sport circum-aural ear cushions for improved comfort. All boast a 3m detachable signal lead and 40mm drivers with neodymium magnets. On the DR50 and DR100, these are fitted with Mylar diaphragms, the latter said to incorporate superior damping and porting. The DR150 benefits from a titanium film diaphragm, which should provide faster transients and a wider dynamic range.
Thankfully none of the models are going to break the bank, with prices ranging from £30 for the DR50, £40 for the DR100 and £70 for the top of the range DR150.
