JVC HD-ILA Hybrid televisions

JVC HD-ILA Hybrid televisions

For a few years now JVC has been using HD-ILA technology (short for 'High Definition Direct drive Image Light Amplifier') and now it's created a new type of display called the HD-ILA Hybrid TV, a special TV that incorporates a unique HD-ILA engine combining the advantages of high performance and low power consumption. The HD-ILA TV uses microdisplay device technology known as LCOS that is said to be superior to conventional DLP or 3-chip LCD projection technologies.

These screens are a bit like rear projection TVs although the manufacturer has been keen to stress a few differences. Firstly, they offer the brightest picture level (900cd/m2) currently available on the market as well as power consumption being about a third of PDP and LCD displays. And thanks to the slim design, these TVs are slimmer than equivalent rear projection models.

The two models on offer in the range are the 56in HD-56ZR7J and the quite frankly gigantic 70in HD-70ZR7J. Both come equipped with three Scarts, one HDMI w/HDCP, a Component Video input, one Fixed Audio output and a PC input. Both accept HD format signal of 720p up to 1080i.
