Over the past year or so Denon has been cunningly integrating iPod functionality into its new products, with the fantastic
Denon Smart Life series being a particular favourite of ours. Now the company has turned to its existing range, releasing a super nifty iPod dock that's more versatile than a king-size Swiss Army Knife.
The ASD-1R dock works with the D-M35DAB and D-M33, all current Denon mini-systems and most older Denon systems going back over many years, even as far as the award winning D-M30, D-M31 and D-F100/101. It fits all 3G/Mini/4G/5G Video and Nano iPods (though not the iPod shuffle), adding IR handset control of your iPod and enabling video or photo playback on a TV. It'll also recharge your player and accepts Apple universal dock inserts for future iPods.
The dock also functions with Denon's AVR-2807 home cinema receiver, all forthcoming Denon AV and stereo receivers and systems that use Denon's new 'Dock Control Connector'. And when hooked up to your tele, the ASD-1R adds on-screen music titles and on-screen navigation displays as well displaying them on the front panel display of your receiver. Clever eh?
At £80 the ASD-1R may appear pricey, but it's certainly a heck of a lot cheaper than having to fork out for a decent sounding iPod speaker system.
