Q Acoustics 1000 Series speakers

Now, you probably won't have heard of Q Acoustics before as it's an entirely new company, but judging by these dapper looking speakers we don't think it'll be long before the name becomes familiar. The '1000 Series' range consists of six models: two bookshelf speakers, two floor standing designs, a dedicated centre channel speaker and a powered subwoofer.

All boast the same micro polyester weave tweeter with advanced Linkwitz-Riley crossovers used throughout. And although we were glad to learn every drive unit has been torque mounted into the front baffles, we were more intrigued by the fact the production of these speakers involved the use of anechoic chambers. Admittedly we've got no idea what an anechoic chamber is, but it sounded pretty darn scary to us.

Released next month, each model will be available in a choice of Black, Beech or Cherry finishes. Pricing for the range is as follows: 1010 small bookshelf/wall mount - £100, 1020 medium bookshelf/wall mount - £130, 1030 compact floorstander - £230, 1050 floorstander - £330, 1000C centre channel - £100, 1000S active subwoofer - £200.
