With Sky's HD service just about to launch, all eyes are on Freeview and the possibility of bringing high-definition TV to the screens of non-Sky subscribers.
First, the good news. This summer will see the UK's four terrestrial broadcasters pioneering a Freeview HD service called DTT HD, just in time for the World Cup in Germany. The bad news is that it's a trial service, only available to a select few volunteers living in London.
Although we don't expect Freeview channels to be commercially broadcasted in high-def until the 2012 analogue switch-off, we're nonetheless excited to learn efforts are being made to get the service up and running.
