New ATC passive loudspeakers

ATC passive loudspeakers

Featuring improved cabinets, drivers and crossovers, manufacturer ATC has built on the success of the SCM7, SCM12 and SCM35 models and introduced a smart looking range of closed-box passive loudspeakers a larger two-way design.

The new four strong line-up comprises an updated version of the ultra-compact two-way SCM7 loudspeaker; two-way SCM11 and SCM19 standmount speakers; and the floorstanding three-way SCM40.

All the new models benefit from updated aesthetics featuring a stepped graphite grey double front baffle with curved edges for reduced diffraction and improved imaging; a new monocoque cabinet construction designed to give substantially more cabinet rigidity; a new neodymium 25mm soft-dome tweeter, which has an ATC aluminium wave-guide face-plate for better and smoother HF dispersion; and metallised polypropylene capacitors, large air cored inductors and ceramic wire-round resistors for superior power handling and clarity.

Each speaker has been developed for amplifiers of 50 to 300 watts and all are available in richly grained, light tone and cherry wood veneer finishes. Pricing is as follows: SCM7 £499, SCM11 £849, SCM19 - £1,499, SCM40 £1,999.

Hello all!

My old Amp had seen better days, so last year I purchased a brand spanking new Cyrus 8vs (having been somewhat taken in by a salesman!). I now feel I should really invest in a new set of speakers to match. The problem is I'm not too hot with Hi-fi goods, and I'm also not willing to be taken in my a salesman again! Any advice from such obviously knowledgable forum users would be much appreciated!
