New Monitor Audio i-deck plus and i-deck compact

A random browse on the Monitor Audio website revealed two new i-deck models, the i-deck plus and the i-deck compact.

The i-deck compact is a 3kg model with the focus on portability. The dimensions reflect this with the compact measuring 420mm in length, 150mm in height and 137mm in depth. As well as the dedicated iPod dock there's a standard 3.5mm jack input for connecting other players, nicely there's also a video out so you can watch any movies, or view any photos, you may have on your iPod.

For horsepower the i-deck compact will give you 15 watts per channel with a frequency response of 85-25KHz. When making a portable speaker system it always helps if it can run on batteries and fortunately the compact can, although it runs on standard 3V batteries as opposed to a built in rechargeable lithium number.

The i-deck plus looks much like the original i-deck but with the addition of a digital display, video out and a handful of extra controls. Boasting a similar spec to the compact, the i-deck plus delivers 15 watts per channel and a frequency response of 75-25KHz. The screen is there to house an in built FM/AM radio. Curiously it's not a DAB radio, but then all features of both the i-deck compact and the i-deck plus are subject to change before their release in August and September respectively.
