Beneath the Genus Type-R's retro walnut end caps and leather back panel lies some pretty uniquely modern technology for a DAB radio, including full touch sensitive controls and - our particular fave - something called 'Proximity sense' that senses your hand approaching then illuminates the touch controls and display to the optimum brightness. Neat huh? With two full range drivers and MaxxBass technology onboard, audio should be suitably beefy too.
The Genus Type-R DAB radio is powered by mains or rechargeable battery (battery pack sold separately), and comes with a line-in for that all important iPod or MP3 player and a line out to deliver DAB to a Hi-fi.
The Type-R will hit the shops in October for around £150.
