Good news for Ambilight fans (Amblight? Eh? See here for more), Philips has released three more screens to its award-winning range.
The three models - 32PF9731D, 37PF9731D & 42PF9731D - all include digital tuners, Pixel Plus 3HD and Clear LCD technology for improved contrast and motion reproduction. The 37" (37PF9731D) and 42" (42PF9731D) sets feature a new version of the Ambilight system, 'Ambilight Surround', which includes a third projection of light on top of the cabinet to extend the light coverage, which Philips reckons will draw you further into the action.
Slightly odd is the fact the 32PF9731D and 42PF9731D have 1366 x 768 resolutions while the mid-range 37PF9731D boasts a larger 1920 x 1080 screen. Nevertheless all three include two HDMI ports, two RGB scart sockets, component video input, S/PDIF in/out and an Ethernet port on the rear, while on the side of the set you'll find twin USB sockets and a multi-slot memory card reader.
Although we're big fans of Philips' Ambilight technology, we're not as keen on pricing - the 32PF9731D is £1,799, the 37PF9731D costs £2,500 and the 42PF9731D is a wallet busting £3,000.
