Although the first Hi-Def disc spinner hit UK shelves this week (
Samsung's BD-P1000 Blu-ray player), its massive £1,000 price tag means that for now it makes much more sense to simply buy an upscaling DVD player.
Replacing the award-winning DVD-1920, Denon's new DVD-1930 player is another addition to an extensive range, the main highlight being full 1080p processing. Previously exclusive to Russian billionares and royalty (see Denon's DVD-A1XVA), 1080p upscaling is thankfully now a possibility for us all with the DVD-1930 costing a competitive £250.
The player comes with an HDMI out, natch, as well as 216MHz / 11bit high-end Video DACs and compatibility with CD, SACD and DVD-Audio discs. Audio processing is dealt with by 24bit 192kHz audio DACs.
Available in black or silver with an aluminium front panel, the DVD-1930 is out this month.
